  I had an amazing experience visiting this place. It was on 1st July 2017 morning, and they just opened new galleries. Lots of interactive cool things like games, puzzles added. Definitely you will enjoy this place and rich Canadian history.

  Was here in June 2017. Was disappointed. The top floor was closed (opening July 2017). The price was $20 per person even thought many of the artifacts were removed. They were having Conferences instead. I felt ripped off. I remember visiting this place 13 years ago and it was much better. If you have visited the museums in Europe you will find this museum very low key (June 2017). The architecture of the building was impressive though.

  There were various really interesting exhibits and an IMAX included in the entrance fee. There is a great outdoor area to sit and enjoy the river. The cafeteria was quite good and there's a coffee shop there as well. It's also neat a park and shopping.

  You may be disappointed. There are many interesting exhibits and it is worthwhile visiting once if you are a resident of Ottawa. However, if you have travelled and seen some of the great museums of the world, this museum is not in the same league as those in London, Washington or Vienna. However, it should be noted that I am posting this in early June 2017 and the top floor was closed and scheduled to be open in July 2017.

  We just saw the new History Hall at the museum. It is done very old-school, just lots of info, photographs, artifacts under glass, some video. There is not much interactive or engaging about it. There were a few attempts, but those were poorly done. We tried to play a fur trading game, one of the few attempts, but the instructions were so poorly explained, we could not play it(two adults an an older teen). The old Canada Hall that predated the History Hall was much more gripping and enjoyable with its different interior buildings. The way the new History Hall is presented definitely does not take into account the new way people think and and engage in information. One could say it might be better to save the money and look up Canada's history online. The children's museum has been pretty much the same for as long as we have seen it for 15 years.
